Kelly Fenton said today that she is stepping down as deputy chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota, effective Jan. 1.
Fenton, who lives in Woodbury, filed campaign paperwork last month to run for the Minnesota House in District 53B. She has held her state GOP position since 2011. In a news release, Fenton said her work for the party was a rewarding experience.
“I am proud that I served our Party during a time of great challenges and was able to provide the leadership to successfully deal with a financial crisis and develop a framework which would enable our Party to continue moving forward,” Fenton said.
Fenton is seeking the Minnesota House seat currently held by Rep. Andrea Kieffer, R-Woodbury. Kieffer announced last month that she would not seek a third term in 2014.
