John Stiles, a close aide to Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, will serve as chief of staff to incoming mayor Betsy Hodges.
Stiles currently serves as Rybak's communications director and volunteered on Hodges' campaign.
Stiles has worked in a variety of political jobs over the course of his career, including campaign manager for St. Paul mayor Chris Coleman and communications director for the state DFL Party.
Chief of staff is the highest-ranking position in the mayor's office, which has 11 employees.
