Mills raises nearly $250,000 in last three months for U.S. House race

Eighth District Republican congressional candidate Stewart Mills says his campaign raised almost $244,000 in the third quarter of the year.  The Mills campaign says more than 90 percent of the money came from Minnesotans.

Mills is an executive with his family’s Mills Fleet Farm business who hopes to run for Congress against Democratic incumbent Rick Nolan.

Nolan hasn't reported his totals for the quarter yet.

The Mills campaign says its fundraising demonstrates “robust support” for his candidacy. Stewart Mills and his wife put $10,400 in the campaign fund. Other family members also contributed,  but campaign Coordinator Isaac Schultz did not have that total.

“We are confident that as Stewart builds his campaign across the district we will have the resources necessary to draw a stark contrast between Mills’ job creating platform and call for smaller government, and the job crushing tax policies coming from elected officials in Washington,” Schultz said in a statement.

Other congressional candidates are also reporting their fundraising as an end-of-the-day reporting deadline approaches.

In the 6

th

District, Republican Tom Emmer announced that he raised $150,000 during the third quarter bringing his total amount raised to $370,000.   And state Sen. John Pederson, R- St. Cloud, reported raising $52,000 during the third quarter.

Former GOP Minnesota state Rep. Phil Krinkie is also running in the 6th, as is Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah.

Krinkie said last week he is putting $300,000 of his own money into his campaign and that he has raised about $40,000.

Sivarajah has not yet released her fundraising numbers.

Emmer, Pederson, Krinkie and Sivarajah  are vying  for the Republican spot on the ballot to replace Rep. Michele Bachmann who said in May she will not seek another term in Congress.

UPDATE:

The Sivarajah campaign said it raised more than $180,000 raised with $184,332 cash on hand at the end of the third quarter.  But the total includes a loan from the candidate of $150,000.
