The stage is set for a government shutdown at midnight.
Minnesota's members of the U.S. House worked late Saturday debating a short term bill to fund the government. The Republican-backed measure delays the Affordable Care Act for one year and repeals the medical device tax that's used to pay for that law. It was a party line vote for the delegation, which was not surprising given the charged partisan atmosphere on Capitol Hill these days.
Senate leaders have rejected the health care reform delay, and President Obama has vowed to veto the House bill if it reaches his desk.
MPR's Phil Picardi spoke with MPR's Washington-based reporter Brett Neely about the situation on Capitol Hill.
