Judge Tanya Bransford is reading Michelle Alexander's "The New Jim Crow." Alexander was a guest on The Daily Circuit earlier this year. Listen back to the interview.
Bransford said that Alexander's book pointed out inequities in the system that surprised even her and added "we need to work much harder at eliminating racial discrimination in the system.”
Judge John Tunheim, who chaired the board that declassified all papers about the Kennedy assassination, is checking out some of the new books about November 22, 1963. He is also reading "The Sleepwalkers" by Christopher Clark, a history of Europe in the prelude to World War I.
Judge George Stephenson recommends "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Isabel Wilkerson and, since he's a fan of science fiction and horror, short stories by H.P. Lovecraft.
