MNsure call center set to answer consumer questions

Minnesota's online health insurance marketplace, MNsure, opens its call center Tuesday to answer consumer questions about comparison shopping and enrolling in health coverage ranging from Medicaid to commercial insurance plans.

MNsure doesn't go live until Oct. 1 but officials want to start answering Minnesotans' questions now.

The call center is important addition to the MNsure website, said Christina Wessel, deputy director of the Minnesota Budget Project, which analyzes budget policy issues.

"We certainly hope that they have enough capacity so that there aren't long waits for people who are trying to use the call center," she said.

The center will be staffed with people who speak Spanish, Hmong and Somali as well as English. There will be access to interpreter services for more than 140 languages.

The center's telephone number is 855-3-MNSURE, or 855-366-7873. It will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m now through the enrollment period, which ends March 31st, 2014.
