Canoeing Knife Lake
This area of Knife Lake is very close to the fire in the BWCAW. When they released the closure map, Dawn LaPointe says was an odd feeling to have just been in that area and recognize the location of the fire, the nearest campsite, and the surrounding area. She and her husband, Gary L. Fiedler (shown here), left the Boundary Waters last Sunday. On Tuesday the DNR discovered a fire near this location, and Wednesday much of the area they explored was closed.
