Results from the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment tests, or MCAs, show a double-digit drop in student reading proficiency, but education officials are cautioning against comparison due to changing testing standards.
"Last year 76 percent of Minnesota students were considered proficient in reading, reports MPR News' Tim Post. "This year it's just under 57.8 percent. Among white students it went from 82.5 percent last year to 65 percent this year. African-American students went from 57 percent proficient to 32 percent."
