A Big Lake man has died in a construction accident at a cabin near Hibbing.
The St. Louis County sheriff's office says it received a report shortly before 5:30 p.m. Saturday of a person trapped beneath a building in Lavell Township, about 15 miles southeast of Hibbing in northeastern Minnesota.
Sgt. James McKenzie says several people were trying to fix the foundation to make it level when a beam collapsed, trapping 45-year-old Randy Sayler beneath the cabin.
An arriving officer was able to extricate Sayler by cutting a hole in the floor of the cabin, but Sayler died at the scene.
