State Sen. Julie Rosen, R-Fairmont, says she’s strongly considering a run for governor but isn’t ready to announce anything soon.

“I’m working hard on it but I’m not ready to announce in the next two weeks,” Rosen said.

Rosen didn’t say when she’ll make a final decision.

Rosen is being courted to run for governor by some members of the business community and rural lawmakers. She would join a growing list of Republicans who are lining up to challenge DFL Gov. Mark Dayton in 2014.

The other GOP candidates include Orono-based businessman Scott Honour, Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson, state Sen. Dave Thompson, R-Lakeville and state Rep. Kurt Zellers, R-Maple Grove. Former GOP House Minority Leader Marty Seifert and state Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen, R- Alexandria, are also considering a run for governor.

Honour, Johnson and Thompson are also confirmed to appear on TPT’s Almanac next week to discuss the campaign. Zellers has not confirmed whether he’ll attend the TPT forum. All four GOP candidates will participate in a GOP forum on August 1.
