A southeastern Minnesota man has died after he was accidentally struck by shrapnel during a bachelor-bachelorette party west of Rushford.
Fillmore County Sheriff Daryl Jensen says 47-year-old Jeffrey Taylor of Utica was tending cattle with his two sons on his property when they were invited to the party at a home on the same property.
Jensen says some of the people at the party were shooting at "explosive targets for fun." Just before 9 p.m. Saturday, someone shot at a target as Taylor and others watched. Taylor was apparently hit in the abdomen by the shrapnel.
Taylor collapsed and was driven to a nearby location where a Rushford ambulance and a Mayo Clinic helicopter were waiting. The Post-Bulletin reports he was pronounced dead at that location.
Authorities are investigating.
