A major reconstruction project on one of Minnesota's busiest freeways is expected to cause major delays for the next six months.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says lane and ramp closings will affect traffic on Interstate 694 in the north metro area all the way from Highway 100 in Brooklyn Center to at I-35W in Arden Hills.
I-694 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between East River Road and Highway 10 in Brooklyn Center starting Sunday night. A temporary lane will be added, however, so that there will be two lanes between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.
The first ramp closing takes place Monday night, and there will be several weekend full closings and detours as crews do bridge work at I-35W and Highway 252.
