Police have released the name of a Duluth man fatally shot by officers who believed he was reaching for a gun.
The man was identified Wednesday as 26-year-old Zachary Premo.
Premo was shot after police responded to a car crash early Tuesday. The driver had fled after running off the road and hitting a tree.
Two officers went to an address where the car owner lived, and one officer encountered Premo outside with a handgun.
Both officers shouted at Premo to comply. Police say when Premo began reaching for where his gun was, both officers fired their guns.
Premo died at the scene. Neither officer was hurt.
Police identify the officers as seven-year veteran Matthew Hendrickson and Jacob Peterson, a four-year veteran. Both will be on standard paid administrative leave.
