Target tests video service among employees

Target is testing a video streaming service.

The offering is called Target Ticket, and while it's in beta mode only Target employees can access it.

The website for the service says it provides 15,000 titles, including new releases, classic movies and next-day TV shows. Users can also purchase movies and TV shows and download them.

"We're currently testing a new online offering with Target team members only," said Erin Conroy, a spokeswoman for Target. "So during this phase, we're gathering valuable information that's going to help us shape our future plans."

For now, Target is not discussing pricing and other matters.

The online video streaming business is crowded these days. Players include NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon and Apple, as well as Comcast and other Internet service providers. Walmart has its Vudu video streaming service. And Best Buy's entry in the space is called Cinemanow.
