DFL Gov. Mark Dayton and the DFL controlled House both proposed large construction and infrastructure proposals this week.
But they need to draw some Republican votes to get the required three-fifths majority in the legislature to pass them.
And although some Republicans have criticized the spending in the bonding proposals, others may be convinced to support a final bonding bill because they include projects in their districts.
Sen. Dave Senjem represents Rochester, which under the governor's bonding proposals would receive $35 million to expand the Mayo Civic Center.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with the senator about prospects for a bonding bill this year.
