We mapped county rankings from the 2013 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Rankings are built based on factors from obesity and teen birth rate to unemployment and access to healthy foods.
The colors show a wide swath of relatively poor rankings across much of northern Minnesota, although Red Lake County seems to be a healthy oasis. Carver County in the Twin Cities metro was ranked number 1 healthiest overall.
