The family of a 3-year-old suburban St. Paul boy will finally have a chance to meet the person who donated the bone marrow that saved the child's life.
Caleb Nord's family celebrates the day he was born and also his re-birthday, the day he received his bone marrow transplant - Aug. 25, 2010. This year, Caleb will have a special guest at his re-birthday party - Missy Slauter, the Michigan woman who donated the bone marrow.
Caleb's mother, Ann Nord, says without the transplant, her son's odds of survival were none.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press says that because of privacy laws, the Nords and Slauter signed consent forms in order learn about each other. The Cedar Spring, Mich., woman will travel to Minnesota this weekend. Slauter says she's sure there will be tears of joy.
