I'm driven crazy by "begs the question" used incorrectly. We're talking about grammar at 10:20 today with Grammar Girl.

Here's what gets to our staff:

Emily Kaiser: Your vs. you're. And their vs there vs. they're

Kryssy Pease: I'll second Emily. Good lord I can't stand it. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but it's like nails on a chalkboard for me. Also it's and its. And who's versus whose. And plurals versus possessives. I've seen businesses whose names are incorrect. I remember a billboard along I-70 in Missouri that advertised for Passion's adult store. Unless it's a business run by a person named Passion (and I'm not ruling that out) it's wrong!

Also, I hate when people use "I" when they should use "me." I think people misuse it because they assume it sounds smarter to use "I," but it only sounds smart when you use it correctly.

And something I wish I was better at - lie versus lay. Also which versus that.

Alex DiPalma: "irregardless" - as defined by Urban Dictionary: A word used by uneducated people intending to sound intelligent.
