We're talking about international adoption this morning.
NPR's Scott Simon is the father of two girls from China. He says that when you see statistics about the drop in adoption numbers, remember how much has changed in the 34 years since Louise Brown was born after being conceived as a "test tube" baby:
The assisted fertility industry has changed everything. It's just the reflex reaction for a lot of people to, when they want to start a family...to walk into a fertility clinic, be asked an astonishingly small number of questions - the most important of which might be American Express or Visa? - and 9.5 months later they can have a baby in their arms.
You can hear the whole interview Scott Simon did with Euan Kerr here.
