Boat launches in three regional parks on the Mississippi River have been closed due to strong currents and high water.
Anoka County boat landings are closed at Mississippi West Park, Riverfront Regional Park and Coon Rapid Dam Regional Park.
The strong currents have washed away safety buoys, said Anoka County spokesperson Martha Weaver. "Because of the flow rates being almost twice as high as usual, it could certainly pose a danger to individuals," Weaver said. "The right thing to do we feel, because there are no safety buoys, is to close the ramp."
The boat launches were also closed last month due to high waters. The safety buoys will be replaced when the current slows.
