Fargo grocery warehouse workers strike

Workers at a SuperValu grocery warehouse in Fargo have gone on strike after rejecting a company contract offer.

Teamsters union local business manager Donny Walz tells KFGO Radio the two sides aren't far apart in talks. Walz says he's hoping an agreement can be reached soon.

Several trucks arriving at the warehouse Monday morning turned around and did not cross a worker picket line.

About 85 union employees work at the warehouse. It supplies Hornbacher's grocery stores and other independent stores in the region.

A SuperValu spokesman tells KVLY-TV that the company pays workers more than $20 an hour. The company is offering a 50-cents-per-hour raise and improved health care and retirement benefits.
