The 1 p.m. witching hour at MCAD

So I grabbed some lunch in the MCAD cafeteria -- juicy turkey, stuffing and huge mound of mashed potatoes and gravy, a cola and cookie for just over $10 -- and noticed that the place was hopping. Truly a buzz.

Next thing I know it's a ghost town:

Apparently, liberal-arts classes are in the morning. But practically everyone has a five-hour studio class that begins at 1 p.m.

I've seen the usual ebb and flow of cafeteria crowds at college, but this is different. You could hear a pin drop.
