The businessman proposing a Block E casino in downtown Minneapolis said he did not discuss the Vikings stadium project Wednesday during a meeting with Gov. Mark Dayton.
Developer Bob Lux said there was no discussion of using gambling revenue to help build the stadium during had a private meeting with Dayton at the Capitol. Instead, Lux said he explained the benefits of the casino proposal.
"If we can be helpful, we'd like to be. We think that Block E has a wonderful generator of jobs, as well as bringing new vitality to downtown Minneapolis," he said. "We're excited about it."
Lux estimates the state's share of earnings from a downtown casino would be about $100 million a year. The Minnesota Indian Gaming Association opposes all efforts to expand gambling in the state.
Dayton also had separate meetings scheduled with representatives of the Vikings and Ramsey County, who propose to build a stadium in Arden Hills.
