A 17-year-old Rochester boy has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly bringing a .44-caliber handgun onto the grounds of a Rochester high school and scuffling with a police officer.
Olmsted County prosecutors charged the teen as a juvenile on Wednesday in an incident that happened the day before at Mayo High School.
Court records say a woman saw the teen drop the pistol in the parking lot and told a police officer. The officer found the teen and the gun in a parked car.
There was a scuffle and the teen allegedly ran away with the gun. After a chase through the neighborhood, the teen was arrested with an ammunition clip in his backpack. The pistol was recovered.
His attorney didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
