U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., says she will vote for the deal to cut spending and raise the debt ceiling.
"It's not the deal I would have written," Klobuchar told MPR, "but you have to remember that the stakes are incredibly high."
Klobuchar says she would have preferred a deficit reduction package that included equal amounts of increased revenue and spending cuts. But she says the GOP-controlled House would have blocked any bill that included a tax hike.
Klobuchar said she would continue to push for increased revenues as part of the second round of deficit reduction measures called for in the deal.
"In the end we will be able to get some revenue," Klobuchar said. "If not this time, those Bush tax cuts on people making over a million dollars lapse at the end this two year period, and the president has said he is not signing them into law again."
