Minnesota homeowners facing foreclosure because of unemployment or underemployment have one more day to apply for up to $50,000 of help.
Minnesota Homeownership Center spokesman Ed Nelson said a federal program will help just over 1,400 state residents facing foreclosure.
"About a third of them must reside in very rural counties in the state of Minnesota. And for now, there are still slots available for rural Minnesota homeowners," Nelson said.
Nelson said the application deadline is Friday afternoon. He said people who want to apply can go to this website.
The program is part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In Minnesota, the program's funds are being administered by the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency.
