We've been talking a lot on the podcast about higher education and whether or not it's important to have a college degree in the 21st century economy. This week and next we're going to explore what college degrees are worth, and why they matter so much.
Our producer Emily Hanford is working on a documentary called "Some College, No Degree: Why So Many Americans Drop Out of College, and What to Do About It." She recently interviewed two economists who have done a lot of research on the value of college degrees and she's going to play excerpts from those interviews.
This week, Emily shares excerpts from her conversation with Sandy Baum, economics professor at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and co-author of "Education Pays: The Benefits of Higher Education for Individuals and Society" for the College Board.
