Republican presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty has released a plan he says will grow the economy by 5 percent a year.
In a speech delivered Tuesday in Chicago, the former Minnesota governor called for across the board tax cuts and a significant reduction in government regulations. Pawlenty says we should apply "the Google test" to government programs. That means if a good or service is available privately online, the government "probably doesn't need to be doing it."
MPR's Phil Picardi spoke with Diane Lim Rogers for some analysis of Pawlenty's plan. Rogers is the Chief Economist at the Concord Coalition, a non-partisan organization dedicated to educating the public about the causes and consequences of federal budget deficits.
