Minn. Veterans Homes hold Memorial Day observances

Minnesota Veterans Homes in Hastings, Silver Bay, Fergus Falls, Minneapolis and Luverne are holding Memorial Day observances Monday to honor those who died serving the U.S.
The programs feature veterans and musical performances.
State Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Shellito will speak at an afternoon event at the Minneapolis Veterans Home. Shellito is the former leader of the Minnesota National Guard.
The event at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home features Chaplain Mike Voorhees, a Vietnam veteran.
The observances in Hastings and Silver Bay will be held in the morning, with ceremonies at Soldiers and Sailors Cemetery and a veterans memorial in Hastings and performances by the high school band and community choir in Silver Bay.
Luverne Mayor Pat Baustian will speak at the Veterans Home ceremony there.
