Mother of hit-and-run driver charged with obstruction

The mother of the Roseville man charged in a fatal hit and run has been charged as an accomplice.

Diane Bakdash owned the car her son, Timothy Bakdash, drove when he struck and killed a man a few weeks ago near the University of Minnesota, according to Minneapolis police.

The criminal complaint states that Diane Bakdash knew her son committed a crime and helped him sell the car right after the incident.

Police accuse Diane Bakdash of obstructing the investigation. The complaint says she refused to speak with investigators who came to her home in search of her son.

Police arrested Diane Bakdash after she went to Hennepin County Jail to visit her son. He's being held on a second-degree murder charge and two felony assault charges. Mother and son are each being held on a $1 million bond.

Diane Bakdash is scheduled to make her first court appearance Wednesday.
