Classes in the central Minnesota town of Melrose are expected to resume tomorrow after a fire forced school officials to cancel classes Tuesday.

Melrose Superintendent Tom Rich says the dust collection system in the woodshop caught fire. Rich said there were no injuries, but students were sent home.

"The smoke got into our high school food service area pretty thick and into about 15 classrooms, and we're trying to air the building out," he said. "We had to open all the doors and put on a lot of big fans and it was just too cold in the building. Plus the smoke smell is still pretty evident down there."

Rich says about a third of the building has smoke damage. It will cost nearly $40,000 dollars to replace the dust collection system and some tools.
