The lure of an almost-new stadium wasn't enough to overcome a bad football team for the University of Minnesota.
The Gophers sold out just one game at TCF Bank Stadium as coach Tim Brewster was fired in the midst of a 3-9 season.
Every home game sold out last season, TCF Bank's first. Student season tickets dipped from selling out all 10,000 last year to just 8,400 this season.
One student, Charlie Preston, says he left several games at halftime this year and doesn't plan to buy season tickets again next year.

Jason Lafrenz, an associate athletic director, notes average attendance dropped by only a little more than 1,000, to 49,513.
