A University Avenue business had to close for a couple of hours Friday, after construction workers with the Central Corridor light-rail transit project accidentally hit a gas line.
The workers were installing temporary traffic signals to prepare for light-rail construction, which will begin in the area next March.
The Ax-Man Surplus Store was evacuated as a precaution. The state's Office of Pipeline Safety is investigating.
