The FBI says a shootout on the Red Lake Indian Reservation that left one man dead and two critically injured appears to be the result of a long-standing feud between two rival groups.
In a Thursday statement, Minneapolis FBI Special Agent in Charge Ralph Boelter says the shootout involves five or six men from two groups.
Both groups were in vehicles when the shooting happened about 3 p.m. Wednesday in a residential neighborhood near the Red Lake Fisheries in Redby. Multiple rifle and shotgun rounds were fired.
Julian Keith Demarrias, 22, of Redby died. Two men in his vehicle were wounded and remain in critical condition.
Boelter says the other vehicle had two or three men in it and the FBI is working to find them. It's not known if these men were injured, or if the wounded men or Demarrias fired any weapons.
