A suspect is under arrest after a couple in their 70s were killed in their rural northwestern Minnesota home, apparently at random.
Acting on a tip, Mahnomen County authorities discovered the bodies of a man and a woman in a home eight miles east of Mahnomen early Friday.
The sheriff's office identifies the victims as Francis Lundon, 72, and his wife, Ethyl, 71. They apparently had been shot to death.
Sheriff Doug Krier tells KFGO-AM of Fargo, N.D., that Morrison County authorities contacted his office after they questioned a man who allegedly had told his friend he had killed people in Mahnomen County. The suspect was driving a pickup registered to the victims.
Krier says it appears the killing was random. The motive isn't known.
The suspect is being held in Benton County. No other suspects are being sought.
