Design teams are building structures out of canned food at the Mall of America this weekend - with a goal of fighting hunger.
"Canstruction" is a benefit competition organized by the Society for Design Administration and the American Institute of Architects. The three-day event started Saturday, and after the competition ends Monday, every can and food product will be donated to the Second Harvest Heartland Food Bank in St. Paul.
Mall visitors can bring canned goods or cash donations to the Nordstrom Court stage area any time during the event.
It's the fifth year Canstruction has been held at Mall of America in Bloomington.
