A steel bridge and an easy-to-assemble emergency shelter will decorate the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities booth at the State Fair this year.
Engineering students and faculty from the Minnesota State University, Mankato, built a 20-foot steel bridge to symbolize the system's program to encourage students to take math and science classes.
MnSCU says the booth will also feature an easy-to-assemble instant shelter designed after Hurricane Katrina and smaller prototypes "printed" in 3D from glue, cornstarch and plaster at a special facility at Century College's Digital Fabrication Lab.
The booth is in the Education Building on Cosgrove Street near the fair's main entrance. The State Fair opens Thursday.
