More moose sightings in unlikely places

Researchers say more moose are being sighted outside of the Boundary Waters and other areas of typical travel in Minnesota.

The Natural Resources Research Institute at the University of Minnesota-Duluth asked the public to report moose sightings in order to track their range.

In the last 11 months, more than 500 moose have been reported in more than 440 locations.

Wildlife researcher Ron Moen says they're seeing more moose, and more in areas outside the traditional range.

The Duluth News Tribune says moose sightings have been reported in Koochiching, Itasca, northern Aitkin and western St. Louis Counties, as well as the usual range of Cook, Lake and northeastern St. Louis County.
