With the school year winding down, students are getting a reminder from some Minnesota celebrities to buckle up when they hit the road this summer.
Radio personalities and athletes have recorded messages for school public-address systems, reminding students to wear seat belts.
Comedian Louie Anderson, Twins player Nick Punto, Lynx player Lindsay Whalen, Wild player Derek Boogaard and Jim Kleinsasser of the Minnesota Vikings are among those recording messages.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is getting the reminder to students before the summer driving season, when teen traffic deaths rise.
Participating schools include Blaine, Chanhassen, Coon Rapids, Lakeville South, Mankato West, Winona and Stillwater. All high schools are invited to download the message online.
