The father of a Minnesota boy who fled the state to avoid court-ordered chemotherapy now has cancer himself.
WCCO-TV reports that a family spokesperson says Anthony Hauser, the father of Daniel Hauser, of Sleepy Eye, is seriously ill with an aggressive form of leukemia.
Daniel was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma early last year and stopped chemotherapy because it made him sick.
His case ended up in court because doctors said his cancer was highly curable, but that he'd probably die without treatment.

He and his mother eventually returned home and he underwent treatment, which put his leukemia into remission. The youth turned 14 in March.
WCCO reports that Anthony Hauser is using blood transfusions instead of chemo to treat his disease.
