North Dakota's congressional delegation says new information from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers indicates the Fargo-Moorhead area would suffer greater damages from flooding than previously thought.

The lawmakers say that raises the case for federal funding for a flood-protection project.

The corps is studying proposed flood diversions on both the North Dakota and Minnesota sides of the Red River.

The North Dakota delegation says the corps' latest analysis shows greater benefits from a diversion channel on the Minnesota side carrying 35,000 cubic feet of water per second. A previous analysis had suggested a smaller channel carrying 22,000 cubic feet per second would be best.
