Voters in the Mahtomedi School District have narrowly approved higher property taxes to pay for $45 million in construction projects.
Tuesday's vote passed by just 22 votes out of nearly 3,500 cast.
The approval means the district will now replace one of its elementary schools and make several upgrades to its four other buildings. The higher taxes will amount to about $92 a year on a $200,000 house.
The vote numbers:
Mahtomedi Schools - $45 million bond
YES -- 1749 (50.3%)
NO -- 1727 (49.7%)
