A man collapsed and died after coming to the aid of a 12-year-old boy who was engulfed in flames when a backyard grill exploded in Moorhead.
Police say Dane Tvedt, 21, and his father heard the explosion and ran to help the boy. Tvedt collapsed before reaching the boy, went into cardiac arrest, and died.
Authorities are investigating the cause of death, but they say it doesn't appear that Tvedt was burned.
The boy, Devan Vanbrunt, was flown from Meritcare Medical Center in Fargo to a Twin Cities burn center. Authorities have not released information about his condition.
Fire officials say an empty charcoal lighter fluid bottle was found nearby. Officials say it appears that the boy used gasoline to ignite the charcoal.
