Governor honors fallen Rochester Marine

Gov. Tim Pawlenty has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff Saturday at all state and federal buildings in Minnesota in honor of Lance Cpl. Curtis M. Swenson, of Rochester.

Swenson was killed in Afghanistan on April 2 when the Humvee in which he was riding hit a roadside bomb that flipped the vehicle. The 20-year-old mortarman was a 2007 Mayo High School graduate.

Swenson's unit deployed to Afghanistan in November. He also served in Iraq in 2008.

Swenson's funeral is set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. He'll be interred with full military honors afterward at Stone Church Cemetery in Houston, Minn.
