Commerce secretary visits Minn. to talk taxes

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke will be in Minneapolis Tuesday to talk about tax credits available to families as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

During the round-table discussion, Locke will highlight an online tool to help families determine whether they are eligible for new tax benefits. The Tax Savings Tool can be found at www.WhiteHouse.gov/Recovery.

According to the Department of Commerce, families are often not fully aware of all tax code changes and might miss out on possible savings. There are over a dozen new tax benefits available to taxpayers and businesses.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak will also be part of the discussion.
