A 17-year-old St. Paul student was struck and killed walking away from Central High School after classes yesterday afternoon.
Police said the teen was hit by a city parks truck. Spokesman Paul Schnell says it appears that Isaiah Vinson was one of a group of students on the sidewalk, and he may have been pushed into oncoming traffic.
"Investigators are still working to sort out exactly what motivated that. Was this a situation of horseplay or was this a situation where there was some type of malicuous intent?" Schnell said. "That was not immediately indicated and it is believed that it is more likely or possible that it was a horseplay situation that was a terrible tragedy."
Police said all indications are that the truck had the right of way and the driver was not at fault.
Police are still investigating the accident, and looking for witnesses.
