It's "Darcy Pohland Day" in Minneapolis.
Mayor R.T. Rybak declared Friday Darcy Pohland Day in honor of the veteran WCCO-TV reporter who died last week.
Rybak calls Pohland "a real pro as a journalist" and a friend. He says she "also loved Minneapolis" - and "Minneapolis loved her back."
Pohland made a career of broadcasting despite an accident that left her paralyzed and using a wheelchair. She was 48.
A public memorial service for Pohland is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.
