A postal service worker in southern Minnesota has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $41,000 in money orders.
Linda Kay Johnson, 60, of Lewisville, allegedly stole and cashed about 80 money orders from August-December 2008. The indictment alleges that Johnson deceived the U.S. Postal Service by making false entries in the office books to cover up the theft.
Johnson has been charged with one count of fraudulently issuing money orders and one count of false entries and reports of money.
If convicted, she faces a potential maximum penalty of 10 years in prison on the false entries count, and five years on the other count.
