A 47-year-old former Chisholm police officer is under police supervision at a Hibbing hospital after a shooting in a Chisholm bar left one man dead and two hospitalized.
The Duluth News Tribune reports Sunday the suspect was a police officer from 1983-89 before taking a job in the city's water department.
Police say the man went to Jim's Sports Club Bar and Grill on Saturday night, where he confronted his ex-wife. When another customer intervened, the suspect left then returned with a gun. He allegedly shot 40-year-old Edward John Walberg and two other men.
Walberg died. Minnesota Department of Public Safety spokesman says 29-year-old Cale Steve Nelson was shot twice and is "fighting for his life" in a Duluth hospital.
The third man's injuries aren't life threatening. The suspect suffered a head wound when another bar patron subdued him.
