The more than 500 Minnesota National Guard soldiers with the 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery, plan to come home from Kuwait in April.
Commanders with the unit spoke to reporters from the West Central Tribune and other media outlets Thursday.
The units from Montevideo, Appleton, Marshall, Madison, Olivia, Morris and Ortonville are based in Kuwait and protect convoys and troops throughout Iraq.
The commanders say they have conducted 580 convoy missions covering 1.7 million miles without an injury or accident.
